free plans: how to make Wooden Letters |
|
Basic Description | What can be a better toy for a child than a colorful set of wooden letters? This is a simple, fun and very satisfying project. You can complete an entire alphabet or just create a smaller set of letters that spells something significant like the child's name. |
Next, cut the letters. We used a bandsaw, but a scrollsaw would be even better for this. Refrain from feeding the wood too fast because it can cause the blade to break. For interior areas you can drill a hole and use a scrollsaw, jigsaw or coping saw; alternatively you can cut through the wall of the letter with a bandsaw to reach the internal areas of those letters that require it. Progress methodically and make any relief cuts necessary to prevent having to back out of a long cut. |
