This project exploits a fascinating phenomenon of our vision: the blind spot. There is a spot in each eye that lacks the ability to function like the rest of the eye - it cannot supply visual data to your brain. Under normal circumstances, the information collected by the other eye fills in the missing area, but under the proper conditions, the blind spot becomes apparent. Making the simple display with glow-in-the-dark paint and positioning it near a bed allows for a surprisingly fun activity while falling asleep. Read on for more information and the simple plan.

#1	-	Paint. Any paint will do, but it should be a contrasting color to whatever surface you will position the display. Glow-in-the-dark (GITD) paint is available at most craft stores and it makes a particularly impressive display. If you use GITD paint, which is typically white, you can apply it on a white or light-colored wall; this will make the display virtually invisible during the day yet fantastic at night.
